Art Garden Biography

Sara & Benjamin Staffeldt are a family of two with a baby on the way! Working together for nearly 7 years they are now faced with the challenge of having only one primary income. The love of plants and always having a knack for growing, let them put together a green  plan for their families future.

Only one true obstacle stood in their way, "The Long Cold Wisconsin Winter!" The 2013-2014 Winter they faced it head on!

It was the coldest winter since the 1960s and had a scary amount of sub-zero degree days. With the odds weighing against them, they pushed through the winter. When spring finally sprung they looked back at the journey and realized that it was a complete success!

They managed to develop a Hybrid Growing System that not only worked amazing but generated better profits than all other hydroponic growing systems on the market. They achieved this by harnessing the power of vertical airspace. By using airspace to grow, the plants yield exceeded the heating cost. This has not been accomplished the cold region they live in. Somehow the system became revolutionary.

528 heads could be grown per month, every month. Harvests were around 125 lettuce per week. Growing was taking place in a 10x12 greenhouse of only 120 sq ft. Since the space was so small the heat costs did not ever exceed $100.00. Even during the coldest months,  the average heat bill was $48.98. Shortly after growing this much food they started to market the product to the stores for $2.00 per head of "Specialty Lettuce" not just regular. This was Yugoslavin Red, Narvea Purple and Butter Crunch Variety's. Over 80% of grocery stores agreed to take the product. Nearly 90% of restaurants agreed to buy as well.

The Growing didn't stop there. Different variety's of plants were developed in the system. Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Herbs, Chard, Peppers & Eggplants. All the were variety's growing together amazingly. The Tomatoes reached so high in the greenhouse that they touched the ceiling and created a canopy of Tomatoes!

The most incredible art was being created by the plants and people began to follow and want to buy the system for themselves. They  didn't jump directly into selling the units. More advancements to the system were made and suddenly Thermal Wrap Technology was born. The technology made Art Garden the most advanced gardening system ever created. A thermal wrap that also refracted light waves to increase productivity. The hybrid gardening system used 8% the space of other systems. Aeroponic's made the speed of growth nearly triple the speed of the rest. They had something special and more importantly they took the time to develop it. They launched the Kickstarter campaign so they can start producing the units for the world.
